“Bombarded”
Dear Friends,

I don’t know all that is going on, obviously, but today I have been bombarded with some urgent/serious prayer requests. I am grateful, as I know you are to pray with others as they go through difficult times, but even more grateful with this truth fro scripture from Psalm 145:18, “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.”

Friends, we never want to take lightly the wonderfulness of being able to come into the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of all Lord’s, on “no” merit of our own, but purely as a result of Christ’s finished work on the cross on our behalf. Scripture says, we can come boldly and confidently, asking, seeking and knocking, and as we pray in His will He hears us and we know if He hears us we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him!

Isn’t it a wonderful thought that the God of all creation wants to have a relationship with us and desires to hear from us? I am so grateful and thankful for His unconditional, sacrificial and servant love for us and knowing that 24/7–365 He is available to us.

I also am greatly encouraged that we are never more near Him than when we truly understand how dependent upon Him we are and spend time in fellowship, not just in prayer with Him. I wonder if there would be less stress and anxiety in our life if we grabbed and held to this truth more????

Have a great day friends,

Doug

Pastor Doug’s Newsletter, May 22, 2013

LFF Screen ShotPastor Doug’s weekly newsletter for May 22, 2013 can be downloaded here, or read below. The title this week is “Proof.” His newsletter can also be be received via email by contacting him at dgshada@gmail.com. His daily word of encouragement can be read by connecting with him on his Facebook page.

Dear Friends,

I, like many of you, have been struck by the horrendous destruction of the tornado this week in Oklahoma. The utter force of the winds exploding, homes and businesses like twigs is mind boggling. What has struck hard though is those 24+ lives of men, women and children that lost their lives in this natural disaster. One moment “all was well” and then, “Poof” their life was gone from this earth, entering eternity someplace.

Many of us get caught up in our busyness of life and like the one interview I heard last evening with a storm survivor, we just don’t think it will happen to us! YET….

This prayer from Psalm 39:4-7 is good to keep on the forefront of my/our mind as we walk down life’s path, daily understanding I am not guaranteed one more moment, but I have this treasure, called “life,” right now to live for His glory and honor. Read with me, “Lord, make me to know my end, and what is the extent of my days, let me know how transient I am. Behold, Thou hast made my days as hand-breadths, and my lifetime as nothing in Thy sight, surely every man at his best is a mere breath. (Selah) Surely every man walks about as a phantom; surely they make an uproar for nothing; He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them. For now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in Thee.”

Friends, the events of this week are a sobering reminder that we are finite beings, allowed this moment in time called “life” to live. May we grab a hold of this moment and live for what really matters…..His glory being seen in and through us, the sharing of His hope and truth…the Gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith in Christ alone, done in love. May our lives truly be the fragrance of Christ in a world that so desperately needs it. And may we pray for those dear men/women, boys/girls in Moore, OK, that are experiencing the awfulness of this storm and the loss of loved ones and friends. May we as the body of Christ universal come alongside those in need, in OK, and where ever He puts us to make a kingdom difference in their life for His honor and glory.

Your friend in Christ,

Doug
