Sobering Truth

Dear Friends,

Have you ever been “hit between the eyes” with a sobering truth that causes you to pause, reflect and that soberly challenges you? I have many times as I read the Word, but not as much as this time as I was reading in the book of Revelation chapter 20 and Vs. 15, “And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Oh, I wish this for “NO ONE!” Yet reality says that at this time in history, “the grace of God ends and His justice begins.” 2 Peter 3 and Vs. 9 says, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

There is a sad statistic that I read awhile back that says, “For every 200 Christians, one person comes to faith in Christ.” Friends, if we saw someone drowning and we had a life jacket we all would throw that life jacket to them to save them. The same “must” be true as we see loved ones, friends, and people in our World without Christ and we have the hope of the life giving gospel to share with them. I understand, “we save no one,” but we are responsible as Christ followers to tell others about the good news of Jesus. We are conveyors of His truth. May we, with holy boldness, be as the Apostle Paul, who said, “he was eager, obligated and unashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

I kind of think there would be less bickering and infighting amongst believers if we were busy doing what He has set us a part to do, don’t you? (that’s another letter though)

Have a great day friends,

Doug
