I enjoy being out on a boat on the water. I recall though one time where we were out on the water fishing in a boat, catching some big bass by the way, and I noticed that the boat was taking on the water and in a few short minutes the boat, we felt so safe in a few minutes before, sunk, that’s right sunk….. My fishing partner and I had to swim to shore (there’s a whole other story to that but we will save that till another time).
Friends, we are living in a world filled with hatred, disobedience, rebellion, anger, strife and deep immorality all around, and we are called as Christ followers to “live in this world.” I love the boat analogy for each of us, “We are to live in this world, but not to allow the world (it’s system’s and evil) to live in us!”
I don’t believe in isolationism at all, because we are called to be salt and light in our world as Christ followers. I do believe in “Insulation” though. Where the Word of God and prayer is our strength and stability, the call to be “holy as Christ is Holy” is our mandate, and obedience and faithfulness to our living Lord is our opportunity to make a kingdom difference for His glory in this world.
Living in these times where the waves are high and often dangerous does not have to capsize us. Let’s keep the water out of our boat and navigate well across the waters for His glory as we head toward the celestial city, called glory.
Safe voyage friends!
